Announcement and Reminders

General Announcements

  • REMINDER: Please do not drop off or pickup students on Graydon Avenue. Not only is this unsafe for our students, it slows down the traffic flow. Our new parking lot allows the drop off of students in a timely manner and should be utilized. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
  • We have had several students arrive at school as early as 6:30am. Please remember that we cannot provide supervision for those students. Our doors open at 7:25am, which is when supervision is available.
  • Students that stay after for the fitness center should not leave the building after school and need to be picked up promptly at 4:30 pm.
  • If the weather is below 32 degrees, students must wear a coat to go outside during lunch. Boots are required if they want to leave the blacktop.

Events at ETMS Reminders

  • If students are attending home athletic events, they should be in the gym after school and during the event unless they are using the restroom. Students should not be roaming the halls during events.

Referendum information

Those who live in the East Troy Community School District will be asked on April 7 to vote on a referendum that would allow the district to exceed the revenue limit by $4 million per year for three years for operational expenses. As families invested in the East Troy Community Schools, we want you to be informed of the possible implications of this referendum.

If the referendum were to be approved by voters on April 7, East Troy Middle School will be able to maintain staffing and programming, ensuring our students continue to receive the supports and services that has lead to:
  • Steady increases in academic performance, leading to a score of Meets Expectations on the 24-25 state report card and above state average achievement.
  • Increased growth in Reading and ELA, as measured by the MAP exams.
  • Improved school culture, with less behavioral referrals and more opportunities for student engagement.
  • More elective options for middle school students.

If the referendum is not approved by voters, the district anticipates reducing approximately 25 full-time equivalent positions in addition to other reductions. At East Troy Middle School, this will mean:
  • Reduced electives and offerings (Music, Spanish, Science and Social Studies Electives)
  • Reduced capacity to meet student needs in pupil services
  • Reduced intervention supports for all students
  • Increased scheduling conflicts for students due to reductions in staff
  • Outdated curriculum materials

Please visit the East Troy School District website to review facts and stay informed, and please vote on April 7th.

Referendum Yard Signs

If you would like a Operational Referendum yard sign, they are available at all District buildings in the main offices. Make sure you Vote on April 7th!

Library news

ETMS Library Celebrates Music and Art in our Schools Month!

The fine arts are alive and well in the ET Community Schools and in celebration, the MS Library is highlighting books with music and art themes.
Students might be interested in reading the nonfiction, award-winning book, The Mona Lisa Vanishes by Nicholas Day. It explains how the painting by Leonardo da Vinci was stolen from the Louvre in 1911 and how this masterpiece should never have existed at all.
Or, can you imagine growing up as a conservative kid with a full ride scholarship to college just to find out that your father is a punk rock legend?  Born to Rock by Gordon Korman will keep students reading past the major twist and all the way to a great ending.
Whichever your student prefers, we have much to offer for fostering your students’ love of music and art!

ETMS Fitness Center

The Fitness Center at ETMS will be open Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays starting September 8th. Middle school students looking to work out after school should stay at the middle school.

However, for all other matters, please reach out by phone or email to set up a meeting time. This helps ensure that staff can give you their full attention and that your concerns are addressed effectively.
