November School Board Meeting

ETMS Families,

As we return from the Thanksgiving Break, I hope all of you were able to enjoy time with family and friends and traveled safely! When students return on Tuesday, we will be starting Trimester 2. We will be running a WIN First bell schedule, so students should go to their WIN homeroom at the start of the day to review their Trimester 2 schedules.

With the change in weather and the snow we received this weekend, I want to remind you of some of our requirements for going outside in the winter. If it is below 32 degrees, students must wear a jacket to go outside. If students do not have boots, they will be required to stay on the blacktop if there is snow on the ground. Please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.

Best Regards,
Mr. Trindl, Principal

Upcoming Events

Announcements and Reminders

General Announcements

  • REMINDER: Please do not drop off or pickup students on Graydon Avenue. Not only is this unsafe for our students, it slows down the traffic flow. Our new parking lot allows the drop off of students in a timely manner and should be utilized. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
  • We have had several students arrive at school as early as 6:30am. Please remember that we cannot provide supervision for those students. Our doors open at 7:25am, which is when supervision is available.
  • Students that stay after for the fitness center should not leave the building after school and need to be picked up promptly at 4:30 pm.

Reward Trip Announcement

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The PBIS Team is excited to announce a new incentive program designed to reward students who consistently demonstrate Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) expectations and academic responsibility. We encourage you to review the expectations with your student so they know what to do to attend the upcoming trip.
To be eligible for the reward trip, students must meet all the following criteria during the tracking period:
  • We will be tracking majors, minors, and tardies from December 2nd to January 28th
  • We will track all NS (Need Support) Grades on January 28th
  • The reward trip to the movies will take place on January 30th
Behavioral & Academic Expectations
No exceptions will be made for the following:
  • Academics: No grade of NS (Needs Support) in any class.
  • Tardies: Fewer than six total tardies across all classes.
  • Discipline: No minor or major discipline infractions.
The Reward: A Movie Trip
Eligible students from all grade levels will participate in a special movie trip on Thursday, January 30th.
  • Time: We will leave school by 11:45 AM and return by 2:30 PM for regular bus dismissal.
  • Movie Options: There will be no movie options; all students will see the same, designated film. (The movie will be decided closer to the trip.)

What If My Student Does Not Attend the Movie?
Students who do not meet the eligibility requirements will remain at school for the afternoon. This time will be used productively for two main purposes:
  • Academic Support: Students with outstanding assignments will use the time to complete their work. This time could also be used to meet with teachers to get reteaching or go over material that is not mastered yet.
  • Community Building: Students who have no academic concerns will participate in planned community building activities with staff. The skills learned during this time will carry over into hopefully being able to attend future reward days.

Schedule Adjustments for January 30th
On January 30th, we will run a modified shortened bell schedule in the morning to accommodate the movie departure. All students will travel to all of their classes in the morning. Students who normally attend high school classes will report to Ms. Feenstra in the Gym.
Lunch and WIN periods will be adjusted to accommodate for those leaving the building for the trip.
Thank you for partnering with us to emphasize the importance of positive behavior and academic achievement. We can not wait to have your student on the trip!

Sincerely,
The PBIS Committee

Scheduling Meetings with Staff

We kindly ask that parents and guardians schedule a meeting in advance when wishing to speak with a staff member. Our staff have full schedules throughout the day, and unannounced visits can be difficult to accommodate.

We absolutely understand that emergencies can arise, and in those cases, we will do our best to assist right away. However, for all other matters, please reach out by phone or email to set up a meeting time. This helps ensure that staff can give you their full attention and that your concerns are addressed effectively.

Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a productive and respectful environment for both staff and students.

Planners

If 7th and 8th grade students are interested in a school planner to help with their organization this year, we do have some available on a first come, first serve basis in the main office.

New Traffic Pattern

Thanks to the passing of the last capital referendum, we were able to completely redo our parking lot to improve the traffic flow and safety during drop off and pick up times. It is important that you follow the proper traffic flow to ensure our students and staff are safe and traffic can move smoothly. PLEASE DO NOT allow students to get in or out of cars on Graydon Avenue. Not only is this unsafe for our students, it will slow the flow of traffic for everyone. We ask that all cars dropping off or picking up their middle school students enter the parking lot and follow the route using the painted arrows. You will notice that the car entrance has been pushed further down Graydon and our busses have a separate entrance and exit. We are excited for this change and ask for your cooperation and patience as everyone adjusts to these changes. A paper copy of the traffic flow will be provided at RSG Conferences.
